FlubberWorld

Slide around as a jelly blob and repaint the floor with other players

A small multiplayer world where each player is a Flubber, a jelly blob that blinks, leaving a trail of paint on a glossy black floor as it moves. The 80×80 grid is shared in real time through Firebase: every painted cell is saved, the minimap shows all players, and you choose your spawn point on a map before entering. The whole thing was coded in one day.

What shines

  • Very expressive procedural character: the body squashes, the eyes follow the direction of travel and blink, the mouth opens with speed, tentacles trail behind, with bubbles and a jelly trail
  • Persistent cell-by-cell painting (one Firebase key per cell, so no duplicates), drawn through a Canvas 2D texture on a metallic floor that reflects it
  • Polished start screen: color choice, animated blob preview, spawn map that already shows the existing paint
  • Clickable minimap for teleporting, cleanup of ghost players after 8 s without a signal
  • Third-person camera with pointer lock, and dual touch joysticks on mobile

How to use it

Pick a nickname, a color and a spawn point, then ZQSD to move and paint. The mouse aims the camera, 1/2/3 changes the brush size, and clicking the minimap teleports you.

Made with

  • Three.js r128 (cdnjs)
  • Firebase Realtime Database 10.12
  • Canvas 2D (texture de peinture, carte de spawn, minimap)
  • Pointer Lock API
  • Touch events (deux joysticks virtuels)
  • Google Fonts (Fredoka One, Nunito)
