Fractales de Newton

Dive into the endless boundaries of Newton's method

Every pixel of the complex plane is a starting point for Newton's method. It takes the color of the polynomial root it converges to, and the boundaries between these basins form endless fractal lace. Choose the polynomial (z³−1, z⁵−1, six roots on a circle, or complex coefficients typed in by hand) and the palette, including "Fire", which colors by iteration count, then explore with the scroll wheel or a zoom box, with view history, a clickable minimap and PNG export.

What shines

  • Progressive, interruptible rendering in 64 px tiles: the interface stays responsive while it computes
  • Polynomials with arbitrary complex coefficients, evaluated together with their derivative using Horner's scheme
  • Four palettes: hue by root, pastel, "Fire" and "Ice" (by iteration), with smoothing
  • Scroll-wheel zoom centered on the cursor, two-click box zoom (Shift for a square), ×2 zoom out and a 64-view history
  • Minimap that shows and reframes the current view, full-resolution PNG export

How to use it

Choose a polynomial and a palette, drag to pan, and use the scroll wheel or "Zoom (2 clicks)" to dive into the boundaries
